History isn’t always about the past.

The content might be, but its presentation can be quite modern. Lydia Leipert, journalist for the public broadcast Bayerischer Rundfunk, proved this with the successful Instagram project @ichbinsophiescholl.

The concept: Over the course of 10 months, the user experiences snippets from the historical figure’s life in real-time, intending to provide, especially young audiences, with an approachable and more comprehensive perspective on history in a familiar environment.

While the project itself is a groundbreaking achievement on its own, its trailblazing role as a flagship project in the new medium of educational social media campaigns will inspire similar projects and might go down in history books for that on its own.
